Passes open for long weekend

The Snowy Range Scenic Byway (Highway 130) opened Thursday morning and the Battle Pass Scenic Byway (Highway 70) opened Friday just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

Ross Doman with the Wyoming Department of Transportation said travelers should be aware that current high country conditions are wet with cold nights. Motorcyclists and bikers should watch for patches of frozen run-off before the morning sun warms the road’s surface. All travelers and hikers should be prepared for possible closures due to winter-like weather on both roadways even after they open.

For current conditions on the roadways, please call 511 or visit http://www.wyoroad.info/highway/conditions/dist1.html
