Letter to the editor: Kudos to council and crew in cleanup

Editor:

At the Saratoga Town Council meeting on Tuesday, April 16, I addressed the council concerning the waiting lines at Kaake Walk Dog Park. I asked if we (dog owners) might use the Bennie Walters Field for overflow at Kaake Walk Dog Park. I also volunteered to fix the fence and clean up Bennie Walters Field. Lisa Burton, the Saratoga Recreation Director, and Chuck Bartlett, the Town Engineer, saw no problems with using Bennie Walters Field for dog training and exercise. In addition, Mr. Bartlett said he would have the park cleaned up and the fence repaired.

On my daily visit to Kaake Walk Park today, I noticed that Mr. Bartlett was true to his word and Bennie Walters Field had been graded, materials removed and the fence had been repaired. Best of all the Bennie Walters sign has been rehung. My dogs and I are very grateful for the efforts of the town Street Crew: Clyde Huddeston, Brian Manley, Randy Sikes and Mitch Zeiger for getting the project completed. Also, I want to thank Chuck Bartlett and Lisa Burton for paving the way to make it all happen.

In closing, I want to thank the town council for approving all concerts at The Yard for this summer. I am hopeful that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a truly relaxing evening at “The Yard” this summer.

Respectfully,

Chris D’Amico
