Obituary: Ernest Ojeda

aratoga resident and member of American Legion Post 54, passed away April 28, 2013, in Thornton, Colo.

Ernest was born in Erie, Colo., on Dec. 21, 1929.

He served in the U.S. Army for more than 23 years during the Korean War and Vietnam War Era and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Ernest graduated from Metro State College and continued his career with Denver Public Schools as an ROTC instructor, retiring after 20 years.

His greatest pride was having successfully mentored many students.

Ernest was an avid outdoorsman, sharing fishing, hunting and skiing with his friends.

He enjoyed traveling across the United States with his wife.

Ernest is survived by his wife: family members, Monte Mondragon, Peggy Gill and Cinna Vallejos; grandchildren, three siblings; and his sons Glenn and Dwyane Ojeda.

Funeral services were held May 3 at the Horan & McConaty Chapel in Thornton.

He was buried with full military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
