Big plans for National Nursing Home Week

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activities Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interest, as well as the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

On May 1, Janice Kerpan gave nine ladies beautiful hair dos and Brenda did the nails of those nine ladies.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon 11 residents played Bingo. Winners for the week were, for Four corners, Kenny Hoaglund, Frank Jareb and Julia Priquet. Blackout winners were Barbara Hooker and Julia Priquet. Our Bingo helpers were Betty Dean, Roxie Baldwin, Lila Worden, Connie Hood, Tom Mansfield and Joni Johnson.

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, the residents enjoyed Reading Fun. The book we are currently reading is “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls.Thursday in Arts & Crafts we decorated the two bulletin boards for the month of May. On  Thursday evening, we enjoyed the music of Teense Willford. On Friday morning, four residents enjoyed sittercise with Terri Dragon.

Movies enjoyed by the residents this week included “Grease”, “The Rare Breed”, “Calamity Jane” and all had fun watching Turner Classic movies every evening.

Thank you to Rebekah’s and Tom for the financial donations to Bingo and to Barb Johnson for the sugar free candy donation.

National Nursing Home Week begins May 12. We have a week of special activities scheduled including a family barbeque on May 16. It should be alot of fun.
