Planning Commission meetings open up

The Saratoga Planning Commission has a difficult job in keeping up with modern technology. More and more workers are doing business in their homes, on cell phones, laptops and iPads making enforcement of regulations more difficult.

Last month, the Planning Commission had an important discussion on the definition of “permitted – meaning allowed” and “permitted – those requiring a permit.” This is not the first, nor will it be the last time this important discussion has been on the table. The Saratoga Sun commends the commission for its efforts in trying to resolve these difficult issues in an open format.

Last week we discovered, while reviewing the Saratoga town website, that commission Chairperson, Bev Hempel’s term had expired Dec. 2012 and not Rod Weinman’s, contrary to what was stated during the meeting. According to the website, Weinman’s term does not expire until 2015.

The Planning Commission needs to establish protocol for terms and their expiration. Strictly adhering to these protocol will eliminate any confusion relating to terms and appointment.

God bless all of our volunteers, without them we would not have the wonderful community we do.
