Lady Panthers go pink in regular season ender

The Lady Panthers finished regular season play against their Valley rivals, the Encampment Lady Tigers, Saturday night in the Panther Den. The Ladies played the “Pink Panther game” for breast cancer awareness.

Heather Oxford came out fired up with a block and a steal to hamper Encampment’s offensive effort. The first quarter was a low scoring quarter, and Saratoga was able to maintain the lead. The Encampment girls were playing well but with two players sustaining ankle injuries the night before against Little Snake River Valley, the lead quickly began to build for Saratoga. Jennifer Morgan and Cassidy Little were both hot from the field, but Saratoga’s defense was too much for Encampment. Mati Love was again good at causing turnovers and stealing the ball. Justine Fourman was able to steal and capitalize, but Encampment kept fighting defensively.

Saratoga was able to hit their shots but Encampment wasn’t able to find theirs. At halftime, Saratoga had a demanding lead of 27-13.

Little and Morgan again started the period with shots from the field to bring Encampment within 10 points.

Fourman dominated the third quarter hitting two three-point shots, driving the lane and converting. Fourman also made the free throws from being fouled.

Saratoga continued to play well in the fourth and when the final buzzer sounded, the Panthers had won, 57-33.

This was the last game of regular season play for both teams. On Monday, Saratoga traveled to Pine Bluffs for the conference play-in game. The Lady Panthers lost to Pine Bluffs ending their season, 32-50.
