The Upper Platte Valley Water Users Association is meeting Wednesday, Feb 27 at the Platte Valley Community Center at 1:30 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public.

Board members will have their annual business meeting and elections followed by presentations that will be of value to the public since these talks will covers many facets of water supply, usage and flow that affect the Platte Valley.

Cory Toye, with Trout Unlimited and director of the Wyoming Water Project, will talk about irrigation infrastructure and coldwater fisheries.

Barry Lawrence, project manager for the Wyoming Water Development Commission, has been invited to talk about the the Weather Modification Project on the Snowy Range and Sierra Madre. The Weather Modification Project is better known as cloud-seeding.

Jack Berger, of Berger Ranches, will discuss the North Spring Creek Methodist Ditch Diversion Project.

Berger said in the fall of 2009, a project on Spring Creek stabilized the creek and improved fisheries. The rock “V” structure was installed before the flooding of 2010 and 2011 and held up during the high-water seasons. Berger said the maintenance of the creek has also improved. Berger explained if they had used a cobbled dam, this could have impeded fish and recreational floaters.

Joe Glode has invited Brian Pugsley, the New Division I Superintendent with the State Engineer’s Office, to talk about the North Platte runoff and call on Pathfinder.

“This will be a great opportunity for people to meet the new superintendent for our area,” Glode said.
