The Activity Department at Valley View offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.
On Thursday afternoon, residents, staff, and visitors attended a memorial service for June Wenger, a resident who passed away recently. Those attending included several children who visited her frequently, attesting to the fact that her impact was intergenerational. This friendly lady touched the lives of many people, and she will be missed by many. Since she loved to play Bingo, we played Bingo during the memorial with prizes she had won during Bingo and many quarters, which she loved getting also. Her daughter, Merlynn Hoopes, a nurse at Valley View, provided cake and chocolate chip cookies for everyone.
Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Uno with Barbara winning. On Monday afternoon, three residents played Yahtzee with Jeanette Baker winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 13 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 10 residents played Bingo. Mae Harris and Sunny Behonek won Four Corners, and Sunny Behonek and Nadine Caleb won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Roxie Baldwin, Joy Martin, Betty Dean, Lila Worden, and Robert Berry. On Saturday morning, Jeanette Baker and Frank Jereb played Wii Bowling.
On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Stinson of the Saratoga Missionary Alliance Church led church service. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard.
For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, four residents had Chicken Parmesan on Monday, and three residents had baked fish on Friday.
On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan and Mildred Hennek gave 11 ladies beautiful hairdos.
On Wednesday morning, 11 residents had their nails done by Brenda Zeiger.
On Friday morning, residents attended Resident Council, raising Valley View living concerns.
Evening activities included Turner Classic Movies Hans Christian Andersen on Sunday, Divorce, American Style on Monday, How to Steal a Million on Tuesday, The Doctor Takes a Wife on Wednesday, Road to Morocco on Thursday, The Tender Trap on Friday, and Captains Courageous on Saturday. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched the VCR movie, Driving Miss Daisy.
