Morgan blocks seven

Jennifer Morgan’s seven blocks stood in contrast to the Lady Tigers’ lowest game stats of the season in a frustrating 10-43 loss to Little Snake River Valley Friday night.
“We came out slow and struggled all night,” coach Amy Clay said. “We were not aggressive on either end of the floor.”

Grapplers dominate on home mats

The Panther wrestlers hosted a wrestling meet Thursday. The grapplers put 10 men on the mat, and although not everyone had wins, the wrestlers were obviously fired up. The meet was a Quadrangular, more of a practice than a regular meet, and the results don’t count toward conference records, only personal records. Nonetheless, the grapplers had 36 matches and won 24 of them.

Lady Tigers get handle on passing offense

The Encampment Lady Tigers took on North Park and Rock River last week. The Tigers played much better basketball this week and the scores reflected the progress. The last time Encampment played North Park they were beaten by 30. This time the Lady Tigers fell just 4 points short of beating the Wildcats.

Town looks to add recreational path

A proposed walking path from Veterans Island to Sandy Beach at Saratoga Lake got a boost when the Saratoga Town Council passed a resolution, at Recreation Director Lisa Burton’s request, to approve submission of a $2,500 grant to help cover the total estimated cost of $8,160 dollars.
The remaining $5,560 would come out of the town’s budget and the town would provide labor and equipment.

Tigers win one, lose one

The Encampment Tigers played two non-conference games last week.
The first game, last Tuesday, was a fast-paced game against the North Park Wildcats. Senior Waddie Love played in his last high school game do to a re-injury of his ankle. Love made the decision to have the injury fixed so he can pursue an athletic career after this year.

Illness, injuries and fouls plague Panthers

The Saratoga Panthers (6-10) played a tight game against Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow (HEM) (1-14) Friday in the Miners’ court ending the first quarter at a tie of 11.
“Hanna played well,” head coach Josh Sandlian said. “Every time HEM gets better we see what we are able to do to get the win.”

Lady Panthers sizzle at HEM, scratch and claw at Big Piney

Taylor Smith scored a career high of 26 points in the Lady Panthers 58-42 win against Hanna-Elk-Mountain-Medicine Bow (HEM) Friday night in the Miner’s court.
“I didn’t want to lose,” Smith said “so I took a chance and luckily it fell for me.”
Smith had 60 percent shooting from beyond the arc sinking three out of five attempts.
“It started a fire on the floor,” Smith said “and everybody started taking chances.”
