Illness, injuries and fouls plague Panthers

The Saratoga Panthers (6-10) played a tight game against Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow (HEM) (1-14) Friday in the Miners’ court ending the first quarter at a tie of 11.
“Hanna played well,” head coach Josh Sandlian said. “Every time HEM gets better we see what we are able to do to get the win.”

Lady Panthers sizzle at HEM, scratch and claw at Big Piney

Taylor Smith scored a career high of 26 points in the Lady Panthers 58-42 win against Hanna-Elk-Mountain-Medicine Bow (HEM) Friday night in the Miner’s court.
“I didn’t want to lose,” Smith said “so I took a chance and luckily it fell for me.”
Smith had 60 percent shooting from beyond the arc sinking three out of five attempts.
“It started a fire on the floor,” Smith said “and everybody started taking chances.”

Encampment Tigers on a roll

After a break from action, the Encampment men were back at full force with two conference games on the road last weekend. Encampment (10-1) (3-0) played Cokeville (9-2) (2-2) on Friday and then Farson (1-11) (1-3) on Saturday.
“We were happy to get two conference wins,” coach Dan Kraft said.
Cokeville played very solid fundamentally and kept possession of the ball, passing around until the shot they wanted came open.

‘Toga men get first conference win

The Mens’ Panther basketball team continued their play with a conference road game on Friday night against Southeast and then hosted the Little Snake River Rattlers on Saturday afternoon.
The Saratoga Panthers (5-10) (1-4) played in Yoder against Southeast ( 0-15) (0-3).

Snowy Range poker run raises $600

It was a beautiful day Saturday for the Saratoga Resort and Spa’s annual Snowy Range Poker Run. Forty participants tried their luck while enjoying a sunny day in the Snowies.
The Poker Run raised $600 for the local Search and Rescue organizations with half donated to Saratoga half donated to Ryan Park.

Lady Panthers top Snake River

The Lady Panthers had two games last week against Southeast on Friday and Little Snake River on Saturday.
Southeast (10-4) (2-1) is in the Panthers (6-10) (0-5) conference and struggled early on.
“I thought Southeast would dominate the conference this year,” head coach Matt Love said in an email. “They have started off the season slow, but they’re getting on track now.”

Lady Tigers gain experience in road losses

After a two-week break, the Encampment Lady Tigers (1-10) (0-3) were back on the court Friday and Saturday for two conference match-ups against Cokeville (11-1) (4-0) and Farson-Eden (6-6) (2-2).
The Tigers dropped the first of the two matches to Cokeville who are undefeated in conference play, and have only lost one game on the season. Cokeville is a tough team and The Lady Tigers had some trouble Friday night.
