Cow Pie Open brings out statewide golfers

Nearly 100 golfers from all over Wyoming participated at the 18th annual Cow Pie Open Golf Classic tournament in Encampment June 1.
The Platte Valley one-of-a-kind tourney was a blind draw and took place in a cow pasture, complete with buckets in the ground serving as holes. Chad McKinney, of Cheyenne, and Garrett Wells, of Rawlins, scored first place with a combined score of 83, and the two players each received a prize of $200.

First-place tie for ladies golf game

Two lady golfers enjoyed a first-place tie at the Saratoga Ladies Golf Association’s most recent game June 6.
The play of the day was Three Clubs Only, with the tie for first place occurring in the First Flight division. Mariel O’Grady was closest to the pin for Second Flight on Hole 8, and MartY Perue had only 10 putts during the game.

Three SGLA ladies top tourney

Three local female golfers made the top three against statewide players at the Saratoga Ladies Golf Association-sponsored Old Baldy Tournament May 23.
In the nine-hole play, Marty Perue placed first, Joy Hamilton placed second and Mariel O’Grady placed third. The tourney had a total of 38 players, including 33 for 18-hole play and five for nine-hole play. The play of the day was low putts.

Finishing with a bang

Saratoga High School’s golf team members had fun with their last game of the spring season at the May 17 Old Baldy Club Invite, held at the prestigious Old Baldy Golf Course in Saratoga.
The team competed against two other teams from Rock Springs and Wright.

A gold and purple bond

Even in the midst of steep competition, the Saratoga and Campbell County High School (Gillette) track teams continued their team bond at the state tournament.

Carbon County athletes place high at Special Olympics

istrict No. 2 Special Olympic Team received several top 10 placements at the Special Olympic State Games in Laramie May 16-18.
