A Trail of Two Cities

The Saratoga Middle High School (SMHS) cross-country team had two busy weeks competing in Colorado and Wyoming.

On September 20, the runners participated in the Sweetheart Invitational in Loveland Colorado.

Race results have yet to be posted, but Head Coach Rex Hohnholt was pleased with the efforts of all participants.

Lady Tigers claw their way to three wins at Invite

The Encampment Lady Tigers traveled to the Thermopolis Invite for a two-day tournament against 1A and 2A teams. They returned with three wins.

Friday, the Tigers lost the first match against the 1A Northwest Conference Riverside Lady Rebels, a 1A Northwest Conference team 9-25, 23-25.

Later on Friday, the Lady Tigers won against the 2A Southwest Conference Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs 25-18, 25-10.

Panthers win three at Thermopolis Invite

The Saratoga Lady Panthers came home with three wins from the Thermopolis Invite this past weekend.

The Panthers’ only loss was to the 2A Southwest Conference Rocky Mountain Lady Grizzlies.

Friday the Panthers played a two-set match against 1A Northwest conference Burlington Lady Huskies and won 25-23, 27-25. The Huskies currently lead their conference 4-0, so this was a huge win for the Lady Panthers.

Tigers take down Natrona County

Though they have yet to play a conference game, Encampment Tiger football appears off to a strong start this season.

After taking down the Riverside Rebels, the Tigers dealt a nearly 40-point loss to the junior varsity team of Natrona County High School on September 10. Throughout the entire match, Encampment kept their scoring in double digits, only being outscored in one quarter.

Tigers win valley match

The Saratoga Lady Panthers (1-2) gave the Encampment Lady Tigers (2-1) a run for their money September 17 in the Saratoga gym.

The match went to four sets with the Lady Tigers coming out on top with three set wins, but not without a lot of work to get past the Lady Panthers defense. The conference match was the third southwest conference match for both teams and the Tigers walked away with 21-25, 25-22, 20-25 and 20-25 scores.

Cowgirls Ready to Host UniWyo Invite

The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team hosts its final non-conference tournament of 2024, as well as its first home matches this week with the UniWyo Invite. Wyoming hosts Coppin State at 6 p.m., Thursday to kick-off the tournament before facing UAlbany at 6:30 Friday night and Utah at 1 p.m., Saturday.

Wind Blown in Rawlins

The Saratoga Panthers ran among the sagebrush at the Rochelle Ranch Golf Course in Rawlins, Wyoming on Friday, September 13.

The wind off of the highway did not seem to stop both the middle school and high school runners from competing well.

“The kids had a great week of practice and showed a little more competitiveness as a whole, at the Rawlins Invite,” said Coach Rex Hohnholt.
