Valley rematch comes down to the wire

The Encampment K-12 gym was filled with a raucous roar as Valley residents cheered on their favorite team: either the Encampment Lady Tigers or the Saratoga Lady Panthers.

They all had good reason to cheer as the fight for the top valley team went to five sets.

The Lady Tigers came out of the match victorious, but it wasn’t without some swipes from the Lady Panthers.

 

Prepping for State

The Saratoga Panthers cross country team ended their regular season in Cheyenne at the Leroy Sprague Invitational Meet on Friday, October 11.

The varsity team racers continued to improve their individual times leading up to the state championship which will also be held in Cheyenne.

Lady Tigers claw their way through at Kaycee Tournament

The Northwest Conference team of Burlington’s Lady Huskies are undefeated in their conference this season with a record of 7-0, and the Encampment Lady Tigers (3-3) got a taste of going up against this team Oct. 12 at the Kaycee Tournament.

For most of their season, the Saratoga Panthers had defied expectations.

Tigers narrowly dehorn Dubois

After tearing through two other conference rivals, the Encampment Tigers nearly saw their undefeated streak ended as they hosted the Dubois Rams on October 11.

Teal for Coach J

On Tuesday, September 17 the volleyball gym turned the color of teal in honor and in remembrance of Laurie Johnston, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in August.

Laurie was a coach in Saratoga and Encampment for over 40 years and was a referee for many of the volleyball games.

Saratoga Cross Country Continues to Impress

The Saratoga Panther cross country ramped up their competitive nature in Wheatland, Wyoming on October 4.

“ After the best week of practice we have had so far, I thought we would be a little heavy-legged during this meet,” said Head Coach Rex Hohnholt. “Every athlete competing had either a seasonal best or lifetime best performance, and we still have a lot of room for improvement.”
