“This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased”

This past Sunday, January 11th, was observed in many western liturgical churches as the First Sunday after the Epiphany. The word “epiphany’ means to “show forth” or to “manifest.” During the season after the Epiphany, the Gospel lessons include stories that show us Jesus’ divinity. The Feast of the Epiphany, January 6th, is the day when we commemorate the visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus.

Living on Purpose: Celebrating the Glorious Incarnation!

Christ is called Emmanuel, which means, “God is with us” and we are so grateful that Jesus came to save us! Yes, we enjoy the nativity, but He’s not a baby today. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, and rose again because He loved you more than anything in the world. Whatever you are going through this season, know that God wants you to place Him at the top of your priority list.

Living on Purpose: Understanding Why We Need a Savior

The author of this story is unknown and it has been told by many people throughout the years. The gentleman to whom I’m going to introduce was not a scrooge, but a kind, decent man and generous to his family and upright in his dealings with other people. He just could not understand how or why Jesus came to earth to save us from our sin. It did not make sense and he was too honest to pretend otherwise.
