Russell "Russ" Allen Crow, 61, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs, Wyoming following a lengthy illness. He was a resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming and former resident of La Barge, Wyoming. Mr. Crow was born on April 13, 1958 in Rawlins, Wyoming; the son of John Vincent Crow and Mary Lou Kaiser-Crow. The last meeting in 2019 had all council members attending along with mayor Greg Salisbury and town clerk/treasurer Doreen Harvey. The council quickly approved the agenda and minutes from the Nov. 14 regularly scheduled meeting. The next order of business was Harvey going over the financials. Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School hosted three teams at the HEM Quad Tournament. Before heading into the holiday break, three members of the four member Saratoga Speech and Debate team traveled to Cheyenne to compete in the Cheyenne East Holiday Classic. “With over 750 entries and 28 competing schools, many from Colorado, this is by far the largest tournament that we will compete in,” said Head Coach Sheryl Hunter. The Saratoga Lady Panthers were able to go into the holiday break with a 2-1 weekend as they attended the Wrangler Invite in Shoshoni. The first game for the girls was against the 2A Rocky Mountain Lady Grizzlies and was also their only loss. The North Platte Valley Medical Center has been chosen as the name for a new Critical Access Hospital (CAH) to be built in Saratoga, the Platte Valley Healthcare Project (PVHP) recently announced. Old Man winter played Grinch to the Hanna Recreation Center on night of Dec. 16. The heat went out and Carbon County cold caused pipes to burst in the kitchen area and ceiling area near the front desk. Staff going to work that morning on Dec.17 discovered flooding throughout those areas. There was no quick fix and the center had to shut down.
