The Saratoga Town Council had a flurry of items to address at their December 6 meeting. Issues ranged from a shortage of water treament chemicals to continued childcare discussions to the ongoing Spring Avenue project. South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical (SCWEMS) representative Irene Archibald gave an update to the Board of Carbon County Commissioners at their December 6 meeting. SCWEMS was given $154,179.00 for sustainability from the Wyoming Department of Health. Archibald this was designated specifically for bonuses for personnel as well as sign on bonuses. Saratoga Police Officers responded to a report of an assault Saturday night, following the Lighted Christmas Parade and Winter Wonderland. Saratoga Police Chief Ken Lehr told the Saratoga Sun a fight broke out on Elm Street across from the Platte Valley Community Center. He has won five awards; two Army Achievement Medals, two Army Accommodation Medals and one Emeritus Service Medal. Three of these were for combat life support to soldiers down range. South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Service (SCWEMS) Representative Penny Layman updated Encampment town council on the use of funding they had received from the Wyoming Hospital Association. The Carbon County Classic tournament featured seven teams, three from Carbon County School District No 2 (CCSD2) and saw the Saratoga High School Panthers go undefeated. The Burlington Huskies impressed people attending the games as they handled their opponents. The Burlington Huskies went to Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School to prove they are a team to watch this year. The first game the Huskies faced HEM. The younger, smaller Miner team played hard, but it did not take Burlington long before they had control of the game. At the half, the score was 36 to 6 in favor of the Huskies. The Encampment Tigers headed into the season with a young team, said Head Coach Jake Johnston.
