Marvin Neil Hughes, 78, of Saratoga, went to his heavenly home on Sun., Dec. 4, 2017 in Saratoga. He was born Aug. 22, 1939 in Delaware County, Oklahoma, to Fred and Anna Hughes. He married Sharon Hughes on Oct. 7, 1956 in Laramie, Wyoming. Marvin and Sharon moved from Laramie to Saratoga in 1969, where they raised their three sons. Marvin was a very hard worker and enjoyed his career as a logging contractor. He later worked for Sinclair Corporation, where he developed a life long illness. He...
The Saratoga Town Council—at least some of it—met for its first scheduled meeting of the month Tuesday before adjourning a scant three minutes later. Council members Richard Raymer and Steve Wilcox were the only two members of the five-person body physically present for the meeting. The Geminids, considered by many stargazers to be one of the best meteor showers of the year, will put on a show for us here on Earth on Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning, provided weather cooperates. The meteor shower was washed out by last year’s super moon, but it will return this year unfettered by light pollution by the moon. Ethan and Carrie Wofford, of Hanna, are parents to three foster children and were expecting their first child in December. Jayce Wayne Wofford didn’t wait until his due date though. Carrie Wofford started having extremely high blood pressure on Oct. 3 and was told she would likely deliver by the end of the night. Carbon County School District No. 2 is using an anonymous computer survey to solicit input from faculty and staff, as well as students and teachers to, help the district find areas of improvement. According to CCSD No.2 Superintendent Jim Copeland, the district is asking stakeholders, including students and parents, to logon to an online survey and complete it.
