  • Panthers get three wins at Carbon County Classic

    The Saratoga varsity boys basketball team achieved three wins at last weekend's Carbon County Classic, showing they had the skills and determination to claw their way to the top. The Panthers won all three of their games at last weekend's Carbon County Classic, and pulled in winning leads of more than 20 points in those against Hayden, Colo. (63-40) and Hanna/Elk Mountain/Medicine Bow (56-34). Coach Josh Sandlian said he was happy to see the boys get off to a good start with their 56-42 win... Full story

  • Tigers on a roll with three-way Classic win

    Encampment's varsity boys basketball team has already shown great promise this year, after winning all three of their games at last weekend's Carbon County Classic. In those three games, the Tigers most impressively managed a 29-point winning lead over Hayden, Colo., in their third and final game.   • Lady Panthers shake off Cokeville loss; go on to win two at tourney

    After a losing their first game of the season to last year's state champions, the Saratoga Lady Panthers stepped it up to win two out of three at the Carbon County Classic basketball tournament held this past weekend. The girls lost Friday against Cokeville, with 58-71, but came back and won their Saturday games against Hayden, Colo., and Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow (HEM) by 10 or more points.   • Lady Tigers claw for more wins

    After winning only one basketball game last season, Encampment's Lady Tigers are primed to bounce back this season. With half of its players freshmen, the Lady Tigers won two out of three games at this past weekend's Carbon County Classic, the first competition of the 2013-14 season. They won with wide leads over the Dubois Lady Rams (38-13) and Hayden, Colo., Lady Tigers (51-39).   • Gridders get honors

    Although Saratoga High School's football team didn't qualify for the playoffs this year, four of the Panthers were able to receive All-State, All-Conference or Honorable Mention recognition for their 2013 season efforts. The football honorees were announced in November, and from those, senior running-back Tate Stinson was the proud Panther to make All-State for the All-Class 1A 6-man team. For the 2013 season, Stinson rushed 882 yards, made 31 tackles and 43 assists and had a total of 21... Full story

  • Speech team ready to talk it up

    The Carbon County School District No. 2 Head Speech Coach Brenda Ostendorf is looking forward to the speech season to begin. At the novice speech meet in Cheyenne several weeks ago, the novice duo of Dylan Baxter and Tylr Kozelisky placed sixth against the bigger schools. "For a novice team to go up against big guns like Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East and South is pretty amazing," Ostendorf said.
