The second monthly meeting of the Saratoga Town Council barely had a quorum, yet the council still dispensed with routine business despite concerns raised by a town resident over the town’s handling of maintenance and repair projects. Janalee Grooman, age 84, and a former resident of Saratoga, died Oct. 28, 2017 at Brookdale Hospice in Glendale, Arizona, following complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Janalee was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Baggs, Wyoming, to Roy and Hannah Adams. She had a very happy childhood growing up, attending school and graduating from Baggs High School in 1951. She had four children by two marriages and she raised her family in Saratoga, Wyoming. She was very active with the 4-H Club and PTA. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the R... Carbon County native and longtime business owner Neal A. Kirk passed away at age 86 in Saratoga. A wake service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 1 p.m. in Saratoga at the Platte Valley Community Center. It will be a time for all to reflect on and share memories of his life with his wife, Carole Jean Kirk. Neal was born November 15, 1931, in Scammon, Kansas, to parents Cliff and Opal (Hartman) Kirk. The Medicine Town Council met at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 and got an update from Krista Mann of Invenergy regarding two proposed wind projects, Echo Flats and T.B. Flats. Mann said Echo Flats was a 250-megawatt project and T.B. Flats was a 500 MW project and Invenergy had held open houses in both Hanna and Medicine Bow. The South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services, SCWEMS, has recognized the Wyoming Department of Fish and Game for being an employer that makes it easy for employees to dedicate their time to the volunteer ambulance service. Jeb Stewart, the chairman of the SCWEMS Joint Powers Board, said employers that allow their employees the flexibility to take time to donate their time to the ambulance service are a key part of what has made the volunteer model work, and it was important for SCWEMS to recognize them.
