It’s been a tradition for 20 years, and on Thursday, the tradition continues with Platte Valley Helping Hands providing a Thanksgiving Dinner to the community. The free dinner begins at 12:30 p.m. and goes until 2 p.m. Roast turkeys will be cooked at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC), then taken over to St. Ann’s Parish Hall, where the Helping Hands’ dinner takes place. The second master plan survey has been discussed and deliberated by Community Builders, Inc. (CBI) as well as interested community members, and is available in hard copies or online as of last Friday. Tourism is now Wyoming’s No. 2 industry, according to Kim Hytrek, Saratoga representative for the Carbon County Visitors Council (CCVC). These numbers are based in the data collected from the lodging tax revenue, which is 2 percent right now. A ground penetrating radar (GPR) study will not take place on the North Platte River through Saratoga, director of public works Jon Winter said at the Nov. 17 Saratoga Town Council meeting. The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Wyoming President, Rebecca (Becky) Allred, made her official visit to the Saratoga Unit 54 on Nov. 7. A noon luncheon was held by Unit 54 for her, her husband, Sherman, and her mother, Betty, who are accompanying Becky on her visits around the state. Games provided fun and laughter throughout the week. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. On Tuesday morning, three residents played Yahtzee with Elaine Burge winning. Our Laundry/Housekeeping Supervisor, Tondi Johnson, ran the game. There were seven here to play Bingo on Tuesday. Two-dollar winners were Carl Kerbs, Lila Worden, Nadene Kerbs and Berneil McCord. Lila Worden won the $5 black out round.
