The Airport Board approved a new private lease agreement for hanger space Oct. 9. The human remains found in the Snowy Range last month have been identified as Lee Ramsey, of Osawatomie, Kan., according to the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Jerry Colson said the remains were identified using dental records and confirm that the remains are those of Ramsey, who was 61 years old when he disappeared. On Aug. 4, 2006, a van belonging to Ramsy was found parked at the Tipple Trailhead parking area along Highway 130, Colson said. As a handful of flu reports begin to emerge in the state, Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) officials are urging residents to get an annual flu vaccination. October is Fire Prevention Month. Saratoga residents are lucky enough to have 32 dedicated volunteer firefighters as first responders in the community. The Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department responds to about 60 or 70 calls a year, and is the first-responding organization for Saratoga and surrounding communities. In past months, the Saratoga Sun staff has shared stories of these individuals bravely fighting fires with quick response times. At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident. Plans for a new Carbon County visitor’s center in Rawlins were discussed at the Encampment Town Council meeting Thursday evening. Jim McKinney, chairman of the Carbon County Visitors Council, told council members, CCVC wanted to apply for a Wyoming Business Council Business Ready Community Planning Grant, which would go toward the new visitor’s center in Rawlins.
