Last season, the Lady Panthers went to the 1A State Volleyball Championship for the first time in 13 years. Coach Shayley Love has high hopes for her team this year as she intends to build on what the Lady Panthers did last year. Last season, the Encampment Lady Tigers were able to get a lot of experience as there were a total of 11 team members, most of them sophomores. Saratoga High School head football coach Logan Wright said he was happy to see 18 players try out for the team. The Panthers are still playing six-man even with the large roster. Wright said, in the beginning of the summer, he had not expected so many to want to play, so he kept the team as six-man. Even though Chris Irwin has been coming to the Valley for five years now, the number of people attending his clinics does not appear to dissipate. This year, the Canadian-born horse trainer held another three-day clinic at Blackhall Mountain Ranch, where he was hosted by Jean Burger.
