The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) has released a draft travel management plan for the Medicine Bow National forest, and will be seeking public input about the draft plan until September 6. Issuing the draft plan moves the USFS closer to putting to bed a contentious debate that began about 18 months ago with the release of a proposed action. Memorial services for long-time Saratoga resident Marie Huntley were conducted Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Saratoga Cemetery Valley Chapel with the Rev. As floating season draws to a close, the Platte Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU) has announced a “River Clean Up Float” scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 3. Around 15 officers from across the nation, though mostly from Wyoming and Colorado, gathered at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) Monday and Tuesday to become certified to train fellow officers on proper Taser use. After Walden, the 200-250 person Beaver Creek Fire Incident Command Post (ICP) is currently the second biggest population center in Jackson County Colorado. Wyoming continues to see unemployment rates that are significantly higher than this time last year and markedly higher than the national average, according to figures released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
