    The town of Saratoga and PMPC are planning to bring in water meter experts to inspect a number of meters along Bridge Street. “There are still a number of meters that aren’t reading,” said PMPC engineer Ken Schwerdt. “What’s odd is that there are so many along Bridge Street.” Schwerdt said about 25 water meters in the town of Saratoga are still not reading, and a lot of them have never been able to read since the system was installed.   • Free firewood permits available

    The Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District (BCH) in Saratoga is now issuing personal free-use firewood permits. This program allows the public to gather firewood at specific sites on the Medicine Bow National Forest where beetle-killed and other hazard trees have been cut and stacked. Participation in the program does require a firewood permit and load tags. The free-use permits are available through Dec. 31 or until supplies are exhausted.     Edwardo “Eddie” Escobedo was born Sept. 12, 1989. He passed away Aug. 9, 2013 in Denver. Edwardo grew up in Saratoga and attended grade school through high school graduating with the class of 2008. Edwardo “Eddie” was very active in school wrestling, football and FCCLA and was loved by all his fellow classmates. Services were held Aug. 14, 2013 at the Funeraia Pipkin and Braswell en la Capilla, in Denver. Mass was given at St. Ann’s Parish Aug. 15, 2013 followed by the burial at the Saratoga Cemetery.     Liandro Escobedo has been volunteering at Bridge Street Bargains all summer to earn credits for school trips. Chris Lamprecht, a volunteer a the Bridge Street Bargains was so impressed with Liandro’s work ethic, she and her husband Tim got him an iPad. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.     Editor, Years and years ago when I was a kid showing sheep at the Carbon County Fair, if I had “five market-WEATHER” lambs they would be named “Stormy, Wind, Rain, Snow and Hail”.
