A Saratoga substitute teacher is being charged with three drug-related offenses. Rod Waeckerlin said selling Valley Pharmacy was not even considered when he sold the pharmacy portion of Bi-Rite Pharmacy, in Rawlins to City Market. The deal is scheduled to close on Aug. 21 and Robyn Miller and Sarah Laughlin were getting phones calls to see if it affected the only pharmacy in the Platte Valley. Waeckerlin said selling the pharmacy in Rawlins was an emotional decision for him. He has owned the Rawlins-based pharmacy for 27 years and it has been in Rawlins for nearly 40 years....
Craig B. Powell, 39, passed away August 10th, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born March 19, 1975, in Saratoga, to John and Connie Powell. The Saratoga/Carbon County Impact Joint Powers (water and sewer) Board are reportedly close to a an agreement with Reiman Construction. At the Aug. 16 water and sewer board meeting, town of Saratoga Engineer Chuck Bartlett said “we are very close,” when asked about the Reiman meter issue. Alcohol is suspected as the contributing factor that lead to a head on double fatality crash on Aug 10. The crash occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. 2.3 miles west of Douglas on Interstate 25 at mile post 142.3. Thirty-nine-year-old Craig B. The Encampment Town Council approved spending up to $750 to repair a propane gas line that has been leaking at the Opera House at their Aug. 14 meeting. In just a few days, Platte Valley residents will be able to try their luck with the brand-new Wyoming Lottery. The Wyoming Lottery is featuring Powerball and Mega Millions. The Country Store and the Kum and Go on First Street in Saratoga are both carrying the lottery. Kathleen Martin, owner of the Country Store, said her store is doing the lottery because it is something new and different. “I think the lottery is just a fun thing to do,” she said. When Mildred Waits came to Saratoga in the summer of 1962, she did so to help her sister who was nursing Saratoga resident Ruth Edwards. That summer, Mildred met the man who would become her husband and life partner, Joe Hennek.
