The Platte Valley Solid Waste Disposal District (Landfill Board) passed a resolution June 3 to increase the landfill rates 18 percent effective July 1. For the a personal landfill fee, that increases the monthly cost from $17 to $20. Commercial increases also went into effect. The rate will reflect on the Aug. 1 billing for each town. Eden Deorio was denied her motion to suppress statements by the District Court in Rawlins last week. Deoiro, who has been accused of allegedly taking more than $30,000 from her employer, Valley Foods, requested a motion to suppress her statement to Saratoga Police Officer Ken Lehr. A floating tree capsized a boat Saturday afternoon sending three Colorado men into the Platte River between the Highway 130 bridge and Saratoga. The three men were able to climb upon the tree and floated for an hour before they were discovered by another boater who called 911. Three women were recognized as Women of Distinction by the Valley Service Organization (VSO) May 28 at their regular meeting at the Hotel Wolf. Two graduating seniors were also recognized for their community service and received a Youth Citizenship award and $350 cash award. A few changes were made to the town of Saratoga’s 2015/2016 fiscal budget at the meeting on June 2. The anticipated general fund revenue and income remained at $3,259,936.00, but the enterprise fund revenue and income was increased by $13,380.00. The changes were reflected in the Water fund.
