  • Athletes and weather

    Joshua Wood and Mike Armstrong|May 22, 2019

An old adage about Wyoming states: "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes, it will change." Nowhere is this more apparent than at the State Track and Field Championship in Casper. Those who are familiar with the event know that one will experience all four seasons over the course of a weekend. This weekend was no different as competitors had warm weather and clear skies on Thursday, but dealt with rain and snow on Saturday. Despite the deceivingly nice weather on Friday, which...

    Keith McLendon|May 22, 2019

In 1977 Saratoga Lions Club members Avon Brock, Bob Randall, and Jim Hull got together with other Lions Club members and came up with the idea for the Junior Golf Program both to teach the sport and to give kids from 5 to 17 years a fun activity to begin their summer. The group began the program by cutting down donated adult clubs to fit younger golfers and, in the 90s, Saratoga Lions Club member Bob Lauman was still cutting clubs to fit. • There is no substitute for a sister

    Mike Armstrong|May 22, 2019

I have always said that my parents may not have lasted very long together (about five years), but they created one of my best friends when my sister was born. I don’t think I realized it when she first came home. The story goes that, when they brought her home from the hospital, I threw a tantrum. Guess I liked being the only child or something. I was a year and half, so I am not positive why I was so freaked out. Anyway, apparently they put this swaddling babe on the couch and I cautiously star... Full story

  • Being a Bighorn

    Joshua Wood|May 22, 2019

Walking into Jordan Seitz's classroom at Encampment K-12 School, it is obvious he enjoys the outdoors. The 6th grade homeroom is decorated with furs and skull mounts. A bulletin board on the west side of the room holds articles written about the bighorn sheep captures that Seitz and his students have helped the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) with along with photos from those captures. It's because of that work that Seitz, along with Brady Samuelson of Riverton Middle School, has been...
