Carbon County School District no. 2 (CCSD#2) school board denied a motion to implement the school resource officer position for the 2015 school year. James "Jim" William Davis, 84, of Saratoga, passed away at Deseret Health and Rehab May 12, 2014 with his loving family at his bedside. Graveside services were held Monday at the Saratoga Cemetery. A stolen Saratoga vehicle has been recovered, Saratoga Police Chief Tom Knickerbocker said. The vehicle was stolen between 10 and 11 p.m., on May 14, near 2nd Street and Elm Ave. The vehicle was recovered in Fremont County on Monday. Knickerbocker said the police department had identified a suspect, but would not release the name. Plans for Staff Sergeant Tyler Pickett Park, which has sat empty for several years, is pushing forward. According to a donor close with the project, who wishes to remain anonymous, the park now has a preliminary design, and is receiving funding and assistance from several parties. During a special meeting Thursday, the Carbon County Commission voted to increase the salaries of six elected officials beginning in 2017. The majority of the commissioners agreed to increase the salaries by 1 percent beginning in January 2017, and by 2 percent starting in January 2018. Power Company of Wyoming (PCW) LLC has submitted its application to the Wyoming Industrial Siting Division, to construct and operate the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre (CCSM) Wind Energy Project. According to PCW, the CCSM Project in Carbon County consists of 1,000 wind turbines, capable of generating up to 3,000 MW of clean and renewable wind energy.
