  • Making time for meetings

    Joshua Wood|May 15, 2019

A common frustration, expressed from town to town, is the inconvenient scheduling of public meetings. Whether on social media, over lunch or in conversation at the post office, the complaint is almost always the same: I would make that meeting if it didn’t already have something going on. I get it. What’s more, my family gets it. At the Saratoga Sun, we cover six communities and five schools with only two reporters and one editor. Our schedules are filled with meetings. Just in Saratoga we hav... Full story

  • The Wizard of Oz

    Joshua Wood|May 15, 2019

It can be hard to find someone who isn't familiar with "The Wizard of Oz." The book, written by L. Frank Baum and published in 1900, influenced the 1939 movie starring Judy Garland. On May 12, the Saratoga Middle/High School (SM/HS) Drama Club presented their own rendition of the famed children's novel. Despite it being 119 years (almost to the day) since the book was published, the Saratoga Sun will still issue a spoiler warning. As the curtain opens, the audience is introduced to Dorothy Gail,...

  • Blow, blow on the range

    Joshua Wood|May 15, 2019

Spring may feel like it's finally arriving in the Valley, and summer is right behind it, but up on the Snowy Range Scenic Byway it seems as if winter has no intention of letting go. While the "official" date declaring the beginning of summer may vary depending on who you ask, the opening of this section of Wyoming Highway 130 is often considered the start of the season. Down here, the river is rising, birds are chirping and trees are budding. Up on Snowy Range, however, crews from the Wyoming...

Following their dissolution by the Saratoga Town Council, the members of the Saratoga Airport Board held their final meeting on May 8 to take care of unfinished business before the appointment of the Saratoga Airport Advisory Board. Financials, however, proved to be difficult to close the books on as the board did not have a proper financial report and had questions about the town audit. Suzie Cox, Saratoga Town Clerk, was at court and, so, was unable to provide a financial report or answers to...
