Hydrogen has been the subject of a few conversations in Carbon County this past week.On March 14, Nicholas Bair, CEO of Clean Energy Holdings, came to the Elk Mountain Town Council to introduce himself and talk about the hydrogen plant project his company hopes to build at Simpson Ridge, outside of town. Dwight Homer France, of Encampment, made his final departure into the heavenly skies on March 22, 2022. Dwight was born on April 3, 1947 to John Walker France and Marie Wells France in Rawlins. Unbeknownst to his parents and doctor, he was a twin. Dwight was polite enough to let his brother Sherrod be born first. He attended school in Rawlins, graduating from Rawlins High School in 1965. The Platte Valley Arts Council (PVAC) is pleased to present “Two’s the Limit,” a sculpture selected for the public art displays to be revealed in the valley this fall. This work includes a 20-by-15-by-11-inch sculpture of trout leaping into the air by local artist Jerry Wood. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 8, 2022 for Carbon County native and long-time Saratoga resident Marty Perue, 89, who passed away Sunday night, March 20, 2022 in the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper after suffering a massive stroke earlier in the day. Rawlins, HEM and Encampment were present. The Panthers had four 1st place wins. The Encampment Tiger track team traveled west to the Green River Track and Field Invite, held in Green River Wyoming. Nine teams from around the state participated in multiple events at the meet. The Encampment Tiger track team traveled north to the Wind River Invitational Track meet held in Fremont county. The first track meet for the Tigers hosted by Wind River High School ranked both teams in top ten. The Lady Tigers were ranked 9th out of 15 schools and scored 32 team points. In February, Darren Jennings, principal at Saratoga Elementary School, was offered a contract as district superintendent for Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2).
