The Saratoga Sun would like to remind all of our readers to set their clocks forward on Sunday, March 8 for the start of Daylight Savings Time. In a related legislative note, House Bill 44, the Mountain Daylight Time Preservation bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 32-27-1 and has been received by the Senate for introduction. Should it pass the Senate and be signed by Governor Mark Gordon, Wyoming would still comply with Daylight Savings Time unless similar legislation was passed in Montana, Idaho, Utah and Colorado. The Airport Board Meeting on February 25, 2020 was scheduled to discuss the apron expansion project and complete the WACIP, which is a request for federal funding. An apron is the area of the airport where aircraft are parked, unloaded, loaded, refueled or boarded. The University of Wyoming recently released the names for its 2019 fall semester President’s Honor Roll and Provost’s Honor Roll and Carbon County is well represented on those lists. The President’s Honor Roll is made-up of regularly enrolled undergraduates who have earned a 4.0 grade point average for the semester and students must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours taken. Governor Mark Gordon has said he will be signing only one tax bill that comes to his desk. That is House Bill 134, also known as the Five Percent Lodging Tax. Once it’s signed into law, House Bill 134 will set a tax rate of five percent on all lodging in Wyoming, including short term rentals like those on AirBnB.
