Thatcher Spiering took first place at Ron Thon over the weekend, a feat which head coach Jared Mason described as "almost shocking." In the Jan. 27 issue of the Saratoga Sun, page 1, we reported that the helicopter used for search and rescue was a Black Hawk, when it was actually a UH-1N Huey. That information was given to the Saratoga Sun by the Carbon County Sheriff’s office. On page 1 of the Feb. 3 edition of the Saratoga Sun we incorrectly identified the type of cancer Scott Bokelman has been diagnosed with. According to head coach Jacob Mickelsen, the debaters had a big weekend, with Rowan Ford making it to semifinals for the Lincoln-Douglas debate. The Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) decided not to pursue additional funding this year. According to BOCES Coordinator Melissa Donough, at a special meeting on Feb. 2, the board discussed their current funding situation and found that for their activities, the amount is adequate. The Saratoga Lady Panthers went to Burns last Friday and brought home their first conference win of the season. In a low-scoring, defensive battle Saratoga (1-5 conference, 4-10 overall) had more stamina and took Burns (2-4, 8-11) down 26-22.
