The Carbon County Council of Governments (CCCOG) met via Zoom on January 13. The board usually meets every two months on the third Wednesday, but this meeting was scheduled a week early. The town of Hanna has been without a planning and zoning board for over a decade, but that all changed on January 25. Three of the five board members met along with Mayor Lois Buchanan at the Hanna Town Hall. Donna Pipher, Sammy Sikes and Mike Armstrong were in attendance. The Platte Valley Healthcare Project (PVHP) has agreed to assume ownership of the Saratoga Care Center for $1, the non-profit recently announced. Saratoga Elementary School (SES) was recently able to hold its annual spelling bee with a total of 48 students participating in the event. Held in the Platte Valley Community Center Auditorium, the venue allowed for students to participate while social distancing. Saratoga Elementary School (SES) kicked off their 2nd Annual Health Moves Minds initiative on February 1 with the goal of raising money for a local charity. In the past week, Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) has dealt with a minor coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that has provided a speed bump to winter sports.
