During the 39th Annual Saratoga Lake Ice Fishing Derby, there were plenty of trout caught by anglers from near and far. There was even, at least, one walleye hooked. There were also a number of Yellow Perch, which is a concern for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD). Paula Harvey, 67, of Cheyenne, passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 23. She was born on October 19, 1954, in Rawlins, Wyoming to Paul and Norinne Hilliard of Saratoga, Wyoming. Paula was all about family. She loved being with her family no matter what they were doing. Where has the time gone? In many ways, it feels like just yesterday my son, Jareth, was born. Tomorrow (Thursday) he’ll be 8 years old and I find myself both amazed at what a wonderful young person he is and afraid of how quickly the years will continue to slip by. The Saratoga Panther grapplers competed in the Ron Thon Memorial Tournament in Riverton this weekend. Competing against more than 30 teams, Saratoga didn’t have a team placement but saw individual placings in the junior varsity matches. The Valleys and Headwaters Restoration project in southeast Wyoming has been awarded $2.8 million in funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to support landscape restoration through targeted forestry management.
