Big turnout for generals

While other states are still counting votes days after November 3, the results in Carbon County were finalized on November 4. With more than 100 percent turnout, Carbon County Clerk Gwynn Bartlett said that, while it wasn’t a record turnout, it was a great turnout for the county.

In Carbon County there are many small municipalities and that is part of their charm. Small populations can often mean that townspeople know each other and will help a neighbor in times of trouble.
This goodwill and cooperation is essential to a town’s character but, when it comes to participating on boards and even town councils, many residents don’t contribute.

District 47 candidates in the House

Republican Jerry Paxton and Libertarian Lela Konecny, the two general election candidates for House District 47, met at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) on October 12 to participate in a forum hosted by the Valley Service Organization (VSO). 

Council candidates questioned

The vacant mayor position, a divisive council and the need for a planning and zoning director were the major points of discussion for the four Saratoga Town Council candidates during a forum held on October 12 at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC).

Candidates to speak at VSO forum

All candidates for Saratoga Town Council and House District 47 have indicated they will attend the upcoming candidates’ forum sponsored by the Valley Service Organization (VSO), according to Kassey Westring, forum moderator for the organization.
The forum is scheduled for Monday, October 12, at 7 p.m. at the Platte Valley Community Center Great Hall.

Lummis visits the Valley

Senate candidate Cynthia Lummis made a stop in Saratoga on September 19 as she gears up for the general election. Lummis, who served as Wyoming's sole representative from 2009 to 2017, was hosted at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) by Teense and Sandy Willford.
