When school begins on August 20 for the 2018-2019 school year, the halls of Saratoga Elementary School (SES) will be missing a longtime fixture of the building. After 17 years of service in Carbon County School District (CCSD) No. 2, LeAnn Uhling retired at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
The late American astronomer Carl Sagan once said "The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself." Sagan was not only an astronomer, but a science popularizer and communicator who served as a spokesman for the sciences. Recently, Lesley Urasky served a similar role at the Saratoga Branch Library, informing those in attendance that we were all "made of stardust."
