Little heads to Girls State

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 54 of Saratoga has selected Riley as a delegate to attend the 77th session of the American Legion Auxiliary Wyoming Girls State program to be held at LCCC in Cheyenne. Riley was selected for her outstanding achievements in school and community.

April 15 deadline for YCA award

There is still time for graduating seniors from Carbon County School District 2 high schools and home schools to apply for the Valley Service Organization’s (VSO) $500 Youth Citizenship Award (YCA).
Carol Beach, YCA chairman for VSO, said the application deadline is Monday, April 15. Application forms are available from school counselors. Home schooled students may get them by contacting Beach at 307-326-8012.

Mixing education

Students that learn at home have different reasons to do so. It is not necessarily popular with public school administrators that have small school populations to begin with, but in Carbon County School District No. 2, (CCSD2) there is an effort between the school system and parents to make sure the students get the best education no–matter where they actually sit down and learn.

It's not everyday that a group of students get the opportunity to present their culinary skills at a state event. On Jan.

Food fit for a governor

Saratoga Middle/High school students in the ProStart program in the Valley created and served appetizers at the Governors Hospitality and Tourism Conference on Jan. 28 for attendees. The annual event is put on by the Wyoming Restaurant and Lodging Association (WLRA).
The three hors d'oeuvres put forth were a huge hit at the conference. A total of 500 pieces were created for the WLRA event.
