CCSD2 continues to work for students

Following the recommendation from Governor Mark Gordon and State Superintendent Jillian Balow on March 15 that all schools in Wyoming close their doors until April 3, Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) has been working to keep parents updated on what can be done to try and continue education outside the classroom.

Balow approves school closures

On Sunday evening, Governor Mark Gordon and State Superintendent Jillian Balow issued a recommendation that all schools in Wyoming close until April 3 for the purpose of social distancing and to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) was among those who quickly followed that recommendation, announcing school closures throughout the district.

Governor, State Superintendent recommend school closures

UPDATED 03/15/2020 6:43 p.m. - Carbon County School District No. 2 schools will be closed from March 16 through April 3, according to Superintendent Jim Copeland.

"We may adjust these dates as we monitor developments," wrote Copeland in a district-wide email on Sunday evening. "I will post updates on the website (crb2.org) and send out e-notes during this time."

AML to mitigate school subsidence

Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School Principal Steve Priest and Hanna Elementary School Principal Jason Greenway provided updates to the Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) Board of Trustees at their February 19 meeting on issues of subsidence surrounding their respective schools.

Viridis Eolia asks about land lease

A full year since an initial presentation to the Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) Board of Trustees, Dean Byrne, representing Viridis Eolia, appeared in person at the February 19 meeting to inquire about property owned by the school district in Medicine Bow. 

UW releases Honor Roll for fall semester

The University of Wyoming recently released the names for its 2019 fall semester President’s Honor Roll and Provost’s Honor Roll and Carbon County is well represented on those lists. The President’s Honor Roll is made-up of regularly enrolled undergraduates who have earned a 4.0 grade point average for the semester and students must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours taken.

Resignations accepted, contracts renewed

The February 19 meeting of the Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) Board of Trustees saw a number of end-of-year resignations approved with a few of them being first year staff members. Additionally, the Board of Trustees also approved a handful of hirings and renewed administrator contracts with few changes.
