The submission window for the Grand Encampment Cowboy Gathering Youth Poetry Contest celebrating cowboy heritage is open until June 1. 

The Encampment FFA Chapter traveled to Cheyenne April 8 - 11, 2026 to compete in the State FFA Convention and Competition.

“Our boys won the state championship for Ag Mechanics which is a huge deal for our size school,” said Advisor Mandy Westerman. “We did the best Encampment has done in a very long time.”

The Encampment FFA Chapter recently hosted a series of events for National FFA Week, focusing on a mix of community outreach and hands-on demonstrations. The week started early with a Teacher Breakfast, where members prepared and served crepes to faculty as a thank-you for their support of the program. Following the breakfast, the chapter hosted an Elementary STEM Day with the help of local community members.

As local governments prepare to set their budget for the next fiscal year, the Board of Carbon County Commissioners (BOCCC) clarified their stance when it comes to the Carbon County Library System and making budget decisions.

Reality of Funding Shortages

“To the degree to which this bill will increase teacher salaries dramatically in the state, and in Carbon [County School District] One, I welcome that. These raises are long overdue.”

Saratoga’s Finest 4-H Club met on March 10, 2026. We kicked it off by doing the pledge of allegiance. Then we had 3 amazing presentations. First, Blake Miller showed us how to make a bird call with our hands — so we all got to try it. It was so cool that all you need is your hands to make the call. Next, Ridge Larson showed us how to make a fly for fly fishing. It seemed like he practiced a lot to make it perfect.
