HART seeks new leader

Current president to take a break, discusses speakers and what to do with extra beds

The Hanna Agricultural Resource Team (HART) met at 5:30 p.m. on July 31 at the Hanna Market to discuss changes in leadership.

Rose Dabbs, the president of HART, told the members in attendance it was time for a new leader. Dabbs said she needed to pull back in her role at HART because she needed to take a rest. She said her commitment to the organization was still strong, but she felt it was time for another member to take over her present role.

Ellen Freeman, HART member who is credited by many for being a driving force in getting the HART Community Garden completed last year, said she was going to be away from Hanna for eight months, so she could not be considered.

Members at the meeting had considered Freeman the logical choice to be the next president and there was disappointment she was leaving.

The members in attendance decided the next meeting a new president would be elected to give time for all HART members to be aware of Dabbs intended resignation.

Dabbs reported several of the garden beds had nothing growing in them. She wanted to see what HART could do to help these barren beds. She told the group one garden bed is available, but it needed to have someone take it over soon since the growing season was not going to be much longer.

Dabbs said next meeting a garden cleaning day should be decided. She said a trailer would be needed to haul away debris that has accumulated over the season.

Guest speakers in the coming months were discussed before the meeting adjourned. The next scheduled meeting is at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Hanna Market.
