It'll be a coal day in Hanna

King Coal Days kick off this Friday

King Coal Days are here again starting July 20.

At 5 p.m. on Friday registration for weekend events at the Hanna Parks and Recreation Center begin this year’s festivities.

Also starting at the same time; a craft, art and food vendor show with a silent auction, a community barbecue and a sand volleyball tournament. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. there will be a DJ, karaoke and dancing.

Saturday, starting at 7 a.m., a 5k Color Dash Run Walk. The same time a pancake breakfast will be served and registration for T-Bone’s 8th annual poker run will start and goes until 9.a.m. The bikes will leave for their run at 9:30 a.m. The King Coal Days parade starts at 10 a.m. at Hanna Town Hall and will finish at the Recreation Center. The day will feature a 3-on-3 basketball tourney, and watermelon and pie eating contests. There will be kids rides, inflatables, auctions and raffles throughout the day. Bikes will return at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be available The new medical helicopter is slated to land at 6 p.m. From 8 p.m. to midnight a street dance featuring “Centerline” out of Rawlins will be playing.

Sunday morning a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. starts the day leading into a men’s horseshoe tournament, co-ed horseshoes, a cribbage tournament. At noon Mud Drags will begin.

“A lot of exciting things to do for all ages,” said Vivian Gonzales, director at the Hanna Recreation Center. “It is going to be a great time.”
