"HEM track had a very successful season this year, and the pride I have in the athletes cannot be measured," Jackie Jones, head coach of the track team said.

"Conor McGraw and Shane McGraw winning state championships was a true highlight of the state meet, and their many points were instrumental to earning the team trophy," Jones said. "The boys who pushed themselves on relays to score additional team points showed that every member was valuable this past weekend."

The Miner relay team consisting of Alex Claice, Devon Grosstick, Basil Phillips and Josh Lee came in 7th in the boys 4x100 Meter Relay and in the boys 4x400 Meter Relay. They placed 6th in the boys 4x800 Meter Relay helping the boys get to 4th place at State.

"The season training plans proved that we were on pace as I am convinced the kids peaked at the right time for regionals and state," Jones said. "Our third place finishes at regionals for both teams, and then our boys bringing home the fourth place team trophy from state are a testament to the hard work and dedication our athletes attacked the season with each and every day."

Although there was no gold from the girls track, Taylar Scott had an excellent day at State where she came in 3rd in the girls 100 Meter Dash and the 400 Meter Dash. She came in 4th in the 200 Meter Dash and the girls Triple Jump.

"The efforts of our four freshmen girls were noted on the weekend," Jones said. "Taylar Scott scored big points for the girls team and had a stand out meet as a freshman as she brought home four medals from the state meet."

Madison Campbell got points for the girls team when she placed 8th in the 800 Meter Run. In the 1600 Meter Run M. Campbell was a contender before she fainted. Her sister, Amy Campbell came in 7th in the girls Long Jump.
