Records fall at regionals

Lady Tigers have three Regional champs, break own records at Lander meet

The Encampment Tigers track team left Tiger Nation last weekend to compete at the 1A West Regional tournament in Lander. During the tournament, several student athletes would become regional champions, two would break their own school records and one of the relay teams would set a new school record.

“Despite the weather, we had another good weekend, this time competing against the best in the 1A West Region,” said Kegan Willford, Encampment track head coach.

Junior Paige Powell placed 1st in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 10 inches, long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 1 inch, triple jump with a distance of 35 feet, 1.5 inches and discus with a distance of 129 feet, 10 inches. With the distance thrown in discus, Powell broke the school record she set earlier in the year and set a new regional record.

Cheyanne Jordan placed 1st in shot put, throwing a distance of 36 feet, 7.5. Jordan also broke the school record she had set earlier in the year. Along with placing 1st in shot put, Jordan placed 6th in discus with a distance of 93 feet, 8 inches.

Noelle Peterson placed 2nd in shot put with a distance of 33 feet, 6.5 inches and 3rd in discus with a distance of 99 feet, 11 inches.

Amber Stubbs placed 1st in the 3200 meter run having finished with a time of 13 minutes, 7 seconds and 4th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6 minutes, 4 seconds..

Grace Tieszen placed 8th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 4.3 seconds.

In the 4x800 meter relay, the team of Lauren Buford, Tieszen, Micaiah Pantle and Stubbs placed 2nd with a time of 11 minutes, 5 seconds. In the 1600 sprint medley, the team of Jordan, Shiann Finney, Tiezen and Buford placed 3rd with a time of 5 minutes, 8 seconds.

Tigers at Regionals

Wyatt Cox placed 2nd in discus, throwing a distance of 128 feet, 1 inch, and 3rd in shot put with a distance of 44 feet.

Reid Schroeder placed 2nd in the 3200 meter run and 3rd in the 1600 meter run with times of 10 minutes, 34 seconds and 4 minutes, 49 seconds, respectively. Also placing in the 3200 meter run was Jarom Herring, placed 4th with a time of 11 minutes, 13 seconds.

Kyler Miller placed 4th in the 110 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 19.24 seconds. Cody Cor placed 8th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1 minutes, 4.94 seconds.

In the 4x800 meter relay, the team of Schroeder, Miller, C. Cor and Herring placed 2nd with a time of 8 minutes, 55.44 seconds and set a new school record.

The team of Jackson Cor, Dalton Peterson, Miller and C. Cor placed 3rd in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3 minutes, 57.34 seconds.

“We have sixteen athletes who will be competing at state,” said Willford. “I am looking forward to the state track meet to see where our athletes stack up against the best in all of 1A.”

Encampment departs Thursday to Casper to compete in the State track meet.
