Miners have good day in Kaycee

Coach sees tracksters achieve personal bests

The Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School track team had a good day at the Kaycee Invite on Friday. Head coach Jackie Jones was pleased with the results.

“We had a successful day, and a few of our kids posted personal bests,” Jones said. “We had a number of athletes win events, and several others place for team points.”

In the boys 100 meter, Conor McGraw came in 1st with a time of 11.74. Devon Grosstick, Kyle Solaas and Alex Claice scored points for the Miners by coming in 5th, 7th and 8th.

In the girls 100 meter Taylar Scott placed 1st with a time of 13.34. Amy Campbell came in 2nd at 13.68.

In the boys 200 meter, Grosstick came in 2nd at 26.62 and Claice brought in points for the team coming in 6th. In the girls 200 meter Scott came in 1st at 28.49 and Amy Campbell 2nd 29.91.

In the boys 400 meter Grosstick placed 3rd at 1:01.49, Solaas 4th at 1:03.30 and Claice 5th at 1:04.88. In the girl’s 400 meter Scott came in 1st at 1:05.02 and Madison Campbell placed 4th at 1:17.93.

In the boys 800 meter, three of the top four placers were from HEM. Shane McGraw was 1st at 2:08.72, Solaas 3rd at 2:27.84 and Claice 4th at 2:31.48. For the girls 800 meter, Madison Campbell came in 2nd at 2:55.99 and Sabrina Geller 3rd at 3:13.56.

The boys 1600 meter, Taylor Widdison came in 2nd at 5:51.94. The girl’s 1600 meter, Geller came in 2nd at 6:52.91.

Widdison came in 1st in the boys 3200 meter at 12:49.15.

In the boys 110 meter hurdle, Conor McGraw came in 2nd at 16.27 and added 1st in the boys 300 meter hurdle at 41.78.

In the boys long jump, Shane McGraw placed 2nd and the girl’s long jump, Amy Campbell was 1st.

The boys triple jump Shane McGraw came in 2nd and Grosstick came in 4th. The girls triple jump, Scott came in 1st, Madison Campbell 4th and Geller 5th.

In the boys high jump, Conor McGraw came in 4th and girls high jump Madison Campbell came in 2nd.

In the boys shot put Ura Schmidt came in 4th and girls shot put Amy Campbell came in 2nd and Megan Hunter placed 4th.

Shane McGraw came in 1st in boys discus throw. Solaas placed 4th and Schmidt 5th.

“It was a great meet,” Jones said.

HEM came in 2nd for total team points. The next scheduled meet is the Mountain Man Invite in Pinedale on April 27.
