Tigers trek to Trojan

Encampment track not dissuaded by weather, cancellations

While the weather may have forced the Wheatland Invite to cancel, that didn’t stop the Encampment Tigers track team from running up to Casper to compete in the Kelly Walsh Trojan Invite. Several of the Tigers and Lady Tigers would place over the weekend, though the team wouldn’t prequalify any more athletes for State.

Lady Tigers

Grace Tieszen placed 8th in the triple jump with a distance of 28 feet and 6.75 inches and completed the 100 meter dash with a time of 15.88.

Amber Stubbs finished the 1600 meter run with a time of 6 minutes and 14 seconds, grabbing 8th place and finished the 800 meter run in 2 minutes and 51 seconds.

Lauren Buford came in just behind Stubbs in the 800 meter run with a time of 2 minutes and 56 seconds.

Three of the Lady Tigers, Cheyanne Jordan, Noelle Peterson and Rachel Stubbs, competed in shot put and discus. In shot put, Jordan threw a distance of 33’9” followed by Peterson with a distance of 32’.5” and Stubbs with 24’1”.

In discus, Jordan again lead the girls with a distance of 91 feet and 2 inches followed by Peterson with 83 feet and 6 inches and Stubbs with 70 feet and 5 inches.

Tigers

Wyatt Cox placed 4th in discus with a distance of 129’2” and 7th in shot put with a distance of 43’2”. Cox also completed the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.56 seconds.

Jarom Herring placed 8th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5 minutes and 2 seconds and completed the 800 meter run with a time of 2 minutes and 21 seconds.

Reid Schroeder placed 6th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10 minutes and 54 seconds.

The Tigers had nine athletes all together compete in the 100 meter dash with Cox having lead the boys. Following Cox was Sean Stewart with a time of 12.77 seconds, Justine Shaw with a time of 13.5 seconds and Jackson Cor with a time of 13.68 seconds.

The next meet for the Encampment Tigers, weather permitting, will be at 11 am on April 13 in Rawlins.
