Barkurst awarded Daniels scholarship

The Daniels Fund recently released the names of 238 students from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming who have been selected for the Daniels Scholarship Program. The program, which was established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, covers the expenses that remain after all other scholarships and financial aid have been applied.

Daniels Scholars may attend any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States.

“These young people have demonstrated the character, leadership and commitment to serving their communities that define a Daniels Scholar,” said Linda Childears, president and CEO of the Daniels Fund. “Our goal is to help each of these scholars succeed in college and ultimately become independent, successful in a rewarding career and actively engaged in their community.”

Of the 238 students selected for the 2018 Class of Daniels Scholars, 36 are from Wyoming. Hailey Barkhurst, a senior at Encampment High School, is the only recipient from Carbon County School District No. 2.
