HEM coach excited for season

Team returns experience, new legs

Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School head track coach, Jackie Jones, is excited about the team being fielded this year.

“We are returning athletes with good regional and state experience this season,” Jones said. “Our boys had a third place finish at regional and a fourth place finish at state last year and on the girls side, we were just short of a regional plaque placing fourth.”

She said the team did have a large number of freshman this year that means there still are some unknown quantities.

Jones said both boys and girls have set goals for this year.

“The boys want to be high in their position to bring home another trophy,” Jones said. “On the girls side, we will be looking for the young ladies to fill spots where we can earn valuable team points.”

She said it is team goal to place in the top three.

“We have a dedicated group of athletes on both the girls and boys sides, and we are excited to get our season going,” Jones said happily.
