Commissioners name 3 to Library Board

After reviewing 11 applicants for three open library board seats, the Carbon County Commissioners filled the vacancies at a meeting on Monday.

Linda Fleming from Baggs, Patty Hays and Mike Morrell from Rawlins were the candidates selected.

“We really appreciate all the people that applied,” Sue Jones, Carbon County Commissioner, said. “It was absolutely fabulous to see all these qualified and interested people apply for the positions.”

Jones said all the aspiring board members explained why they wanted the position and why they thought they were right for the position.

“It was a tough decision,” Jones said.

According to Jones, Hays took over a board position that will expire on June 30, 2018. Another seat term will be ending on June 30, 2018 making two available. There are also two seats with terms ending in 2019.

“I encourage those who applied this time, to keep in mind there will be seats open again,” Jones said.

She said the library board met after the appointments and voted to keep Jacob Michelsen at his position as Executive Director of the library board.

“I heard it was a positive meeting,” Jones said.

Monday’s meeting was also the last that Lindy Glode will attend as a commissioner due to her retirement on Jan. 31.
