Encampment Tigers hosted the Cokeville Panthers and the Farson-Eden Pronghorns over the weekend. While the Tigers were able to dispatch the Panthers on Friday, Saturday found the Pronghorns escaping Tiger Nation with a 10-point lead.

Facing the Panthers, Encampment found themselves with a 9-point lead at the half and were able to keep that lead throughout the 3rd quarter. Going into the final quarter of the game, the Tigers had a 17-point lead. Cokeville was able to shorten that lead by only 2 points by the time the game ended. Final score was 57-42.

"I was pleased with the defense that was played in this game," said Jake Johnston, head coach of the Encampment Tigers, "The kids stuck to their principles and helped each other well."

Johnston added that being patient on offense helped the team get good shots in the game. Freshman Dalton Peterson led the team in scoring and rebounds, with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Wyatt Cox also scored 17 points against the Panthers. Reid Schroeder was able to get 9 points in Friday's game and had 7 assists.

Saturday, Encampment hosted the Pronghorns for their homecoming game. The Tigers were able to stay close to Farson-Eden throughout the first quarter, trailing 4 points behind. Within the first minute of the second quarter, however, the Pronghorns were able to rack up another 5 points.

At the half, the Tigers trailed the Pronghorns by 10 points. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the Farson-Eden remained ahead with a score of 34-46.

The Tigers were unable to close that gap, scoring 11 points in the final quarter as the Pronghorns grabbed another 9 points. Final score was 45-55.

"Our boys struggled shooting in this game only shooting 38 percent," said Johnston.

He felt that the lack of shooting led the team to play a slower game than they were comfortable with.

"I am still pleased with the effort the kids gave. They kept working even though the ball wasn't dropping," Johnston said.

Senior Wyatt Cox led the team in points on Saturday, scoring 18 points against the Pronghorns. Junior Sean Stewart followed with 11 points and Dalton Peterson with 10 points.

After this weekend, the Encampment Tigers are 1-2 for conference and 8-2 for the season. Encampment will next host Little Snake River Valley at noon on Jan. 20..
