Fresh off of winter break, the Encampment Lady Tigers enjoyed a double-win weekend against the Rock River Lady Longhorns and the Saratoga Lady Panthers. The Tigers hosted the Longhorns on Thursday night and dominated their home court. Playing a defense-heavy game, the Lady Tigers ended the match with a 21-point lead. The final score was 49-28.

Friday night, the Lady Tigers were hosted by the Saratoga Lady Panthers. Encampment, with seasoned players and eager to defend their title of 1A Champions, controlled the court. Lady Panthers, however, were not going to go down without a fight and played good defense against their Valley rivals. The final score saw Saratoga lose to Encampment, 19-56.

"We played a little out of sync both games this weekend, but played well enough to get two wins said Encampment girls coach Clint Bromley, "Rock River is going to be the elite team in the east. They are figuring some things out and will be even more difficult to beat the next time we meet."

Bromley had high praise for the Saratoga Lady Panthers as well.

"Saratoga won the battle of the boards and played good defense. If they figure out who is going to do the scoring on their team and minimize their turnovers, they will also be a team you can't overlook later in the season," Bromley said.

Mychaela Jackman was the top scorer for the Lady Panthers against Encampment with eight points, followed by Jenna Dew and Tasia Daley who both scored two points.
